Default need camshaft knowledge and input

i was looking through Evasive Motorsports and came across the Skunk2 stage 2 camshafts and was wondering if these would be very beneficial in the 2.2 ? i was wondering if i could use these cams revving to 8000 rpm's with stock valvesprings and retainers? i dont quite wanna take the head off for these cams unless its down the road.

Also i am assuming i MUST have some kind of tuning program to run this cam?

No aftermarket cams have proven themselves for the F20c. Lots of horror stories.

^^What they said. No cams have produced proven gains on a dyno that I'm aware of.... some even lost power I think :-/ There are rumors of cams from Hytech but they will likely be big $$$ and a long wait.

When it comes to camshafts anything other than stock is a waste of money, you will most likely not gain anything or maybe lose power or cause some damage. You got a brand new car man don't do nothing drastic. The best safest way to get power is to just get a nice exhaust system for decent power and nice gains. Other than that anything else won't give you more than a couple of hp, not worth the money.

all right, i plan on getting an exhuast within the next month so after that i will save up for a tuning program? i may eventually boost this beast, is there anything good tuning alternative that is both n/a and boost compatible other than AEM because its so damn expensive

greddy e-manage ultimate... although I'm not sure if it allows you to keep VSA....

You could go with a reflash from Hondata but that would be for n/a unless you went with a Rotorex (sp.?) s/c that comes with a hondata reflash for boost. ...There's also rumors of a KPRO for '06+ S2k's which would allow you to keep all factory features

when you think about it, we already have cams that make 120hp/liter at 8-9k, those are figures that aftermarket cams manufacturers would love to achieve for other vehicles
