Default Need New Clutch Assembly

Just took my 19000 mile AP1 to 2 different dealers due to clutch and shifting problems, the first dealer quoted me 6000 to fix her and the other dealer quoted me 3500. The second dealer I brought her too said I only need a new clutch assembly and clutch master cylinder. So I was wondering what was the best aftermarket clutch assembly to buy.

^^ Yep ... OEM.

Even if they charge you $1000 on parts, that lower quote comes to about $300 per hour labor ... yeesh ... Even on jack stands in a garage it is about a 6-8 hour job.

19k miles? Bad clutch? Is your car OEM? If so I find it hard to believe the clutch is worn unless you cannot drive manual transmission.

Is it slipping?

Shifting issues are usually fixed by bleeding the hydraulics and changing transmission fluid. Make sure it's the clutch before you throw money at it.

It takes a lot to wreck a clutch in 19K miles.

Depends on how you drive. Again OP should post naughty pics of the clutch master primary cylinder reservoir. I'm willing to bet it's straight sludge.

First, you probably don't need a clutch

Second, never bring your car to the dealership.

Find a shop that specializes in S2000.

First step, have the clutch fluid bled.

Second step, adjust clutch rod under the dash. There is a good youtube video on this. Only tool required is a 12mm open end wrench. Takes 5 min.

I bet clutch works fine after doing this. Shouldn't cost more than $100.
