Default New Intake System

I won't be taking delivery of my S2000 for a few days so I'm considering intake system options. From my searches on this forum, the PWJDM intake system seems to offer the most HP/TQ improvement. I'm not going to spend $900+ dollars on an intake so I'll make my own. BTW, lest you think this is noobie bravado, I have pics of other systems I've made - I can't do carbon fiber but I'm quite good at glass fibre. Anyway, I have a couple of questions about the aforementioned system and the ASM V.2 & V3. Does these designs require the hood to be cut? My searches seemed to indicate that these two systems don't require cutting but it would be nice to hear from someone who has one. Second, are there any engineers out there that can tell me the advantage of the "organic" shapes? I'm especially interested in an opinion on the piece that fits onto the intake manifold and the other end fits the cone shaped filter. Is there some kind of resonance created by the curved shape? Does it increase velocity somehow? There must be some benefit or else they would go with a traditional tube shape, like the K & N design. Re: the ram air piece that encloses the filter, anyone know if there is a purpose to the "organic" shape of this piece? Some of the other similar designs don't have the curved organic shape. BTW, I think there is a method whereby the intake charge can be cooled more than just a ram air effect but I'll leave that for another post (not talking about Nitrous etc.)

1) It is ok to use paragraphs.

2) Search the NA forum for the "OFFICIAL INTAKE THREAD". That will answer your intake/hood fitment questions on all the aforementioned intakes.

3) Nothing special about the intake arm.

4) Good and bad reviews about the inner workings of the stock intake box. Take your pick.

Whatever you design make sure it's sexy because power gains are minimal at best for CAI on the S.

Yep...all it needs is a cold air source...like a snorkle.

The inner workings. ie to gut the airbox or not.

The OP wanted to know if there was anything in the airbox creating a special effect to include in his design.

at speed the stock intake gets plenty of fresh air, and i never understood why people switch out the stock intake for something metal that conducts heat better
