More adjustable better performance and you will want them eventually if you buy springs.
Not if you don't know what you're doing... which is like 80% of those who buy coilovers.
I agree, it seems like most people buy coilovers so they can slam the car.

I have the n1 dual with a test pipe.... Sounds good. Sounds... Loud.... And doesn't fit perfectly... Like any other invidia. If I were you I'd buy the comptech exhaust or greddy rs if you want loud. Or even the q300, although it sounds a little gross with a cat delete.

When compared to springs what I said is true with the only exception maybe being the swift springs many cr owners use however the cr has higher dampening rates than the regular s2000. You can believe what you like but I know a decent coilover will performer better than the oem shock with a lowering spring on it.

I am not disagreeing with you in the least. A decent coilover setup will outperform a lowering spring/oem shock setup. I was just saying a lot of people tend to buy crap coilovers not for a performance reason, but for slam'ability.

I agree with that. I made that mistake myself. Very happy with my new setup though.

Basically what we are trying to stress to the OP is to wait and buy quality parts because it is always cheaper to buy something once instead of twice. For instance say you buy that junk Invidia exhaust for $250 used. Then you run it for a few months and hate you life and your hearing is forever damaged. You then buy a new good exhaust and sell the invidia for $200. Your new exhaust just cost you $50 more than if you had just waited and bought it in the first place.

Here is basically what you should do for your track day. New tires (possibly OEM AP2 wheels if you can find them or at least similar sizes)

Change all your fluids to a high quality fluid like AMSoil. This will make a HUGE difference in how the car feels.

Maybe a K&N FIPK if you have the time and money and want a little more noise and a little more pep.

After that go for some ride alongs and listen to other exhausts and other setups and talk to people able what coilovers they have.

A TUNED decent coilover, yes. Someone just slapping a coilover suspension on a car and setting ride height isn't likely to perform much better than a set of OEM shocks with eibachs on it.

This is all based on whether or not the user/owner takes the time to find the proper springs for their setup, then dials in the coilovers for those springs, and gets a proper alignment that utilizes the better dampening/rebound rates of the coilovers. I'm willing to bet most coilover owners can't even provide the difference in spring rates from their stock setup to the coilover setup.

My point is, a untuned/improperly setup coilover suspension is going to be worse than a OEM shock/ eibach spring setup. There's no question that a properly set up car with coilovers will be faster/handle better than a car with OEM shocks/lowering springs.

Think of it this way, just because you buy something to adjust your fuel maps, doesn't mean you'll instantly have a faster car. It requires tuning... just like your suspension. It seems to me that you're saying that one can simply bolt coilovers on their car and the car will handle better.

Don't put the cart before the horse. Learn the car and you'll know what mods you need/want. If you have to ask which mods then you haven't spent enough time on the track.

If you have 01 I suggest tires and replacing the super stiff rear sway out with an AP2 or CR one. It makes a huge difference, and makes the rear much more predictable and easier to drive.

Thanks for all of the responses. I think my plan for now is to try to get some new tires and change out the fluids before the track day and see how she does. Now that i have found out that the N1 exhaust might be the worse exhaust of all time what exhaust should I be looking at? I know i need to go listen to them in person but i would like to narrow it down first.
