Default NGK spark plugs

I ordered some, and they came packaged as Niterra, I'm here freaking out thinking I got some fakes, but no, NGK is now Niterra.

Weird. NGK is much cooler name. Has brand identity. People wearing t shirts and hats with their logo. Stickers on their boy racer wannabe race cars.

Why rebrand?

"The company's well-known brands, NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics, will continue to be used for their respective businesses. For example, NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A.) Inc., the Wixom, Michigan-based manufacturer of ignition parts and sensors, will operate under the name Niterra North America, Inc"

Official post:

NGK Changes Name to Niterra North America.

____________

I wonder what they are changing that iconic logo to?

Marketing babble at its worst. Completely contradictory statements.

To paraphrase: Well known brands will continue to be used, they will operate under a new brand.

What?

There may have been some sort of corporate merger.

I thought that was too obvious to even mention.

But merging doesn't mean popular branding has to change.

Could go with:
NGK, now a division of (whatever the forgettable new corporate name is).

NGK, a (stupid new name) company.
