Wow 13lbs would be a great reduction from the 21lb stock ap2 weight!! Why did Honda decide to make the ap2 so much heavier? Anybody looking to get rid of a stock ap1 flywheel?

Why did Honda decide to make the ap2 so much heavier?

there has to be a logical reason for this, so i would think it would harm to go to a lighter weight, but no reason i can think of...

Because with the lighter flywheel and lower redline the car would fall out of VTEC between shifts.

It is typical for manufactuers to go to a heavier FW to reduce clutch failures.

Ahhh this is one of the best mods for NA but I think altogether after installation it costs more than a grand...

If you do get it, can you please record a before/after video of the sound?

I just did. You can't keep it in VTEC if you are shifting sanely. It doesn't fall too far out, maybe 500 rpm or so. For now the car is bone stock(other than the AP1 flywheel), but when Hondata arrives I am raising the rev limiter to 8500 and lowering VTEC engagement to 5400.

So when you are revving hard to redline it still drops out of vtec when shifting quickly? Or only when just driving relatively easy?
