Default OEM Hardtop help

I'm buying a hardtop off a 02 for my 2008. Seller says he has all the hardware. I read somewhere that there is a hardware change for AP2 is that true?

Also, his hardware only consists of the rear cachers, some screws, and the defrosting wire. Is there anything else needed?

Would anybody be so kind to explain the following pieces before I throw down $3500 on a HT (I want to make sure I have everything)
- catchers
- striker
- latches
- wiring harness
- brushes

Do I need all of this stuff?

Thanks

You do if you want your HT to work properly. Catchers are on either side of the base of the HT in the car body and "catch" the pins/handles that secure the HT amidships. Wiring harness is necessary in order to be able to connect up the rear window defroster that is built into the rear glass (important if you live in northern latitiudes or higher elevations where frost on the rear window makes it difficutl to see out of (a safety issue). The brushes I would have thought would already be in the car as they relate to the soft top mechanism. They are located in the area where the catchers are/will be located. Stiker [plate]s are for the front latches. Your 2008 should not require these at this point I wouldn't think. The HT uses the same front latches as the soft top.Go for it and good luck.

The brushes that come with the softtop will not work. Perhaps they can be modified and made to work. Make it easy on yourself and insist the the HT brushes be included.

I recently installed an older hardtop on my 08 so i feel for you in wanting more information, below are my two cents

* You will need to ensure the hardtop comes with the catchers and latches
* You will need to order a new wiring harness as there are three different harnesses for different years, since yours is 08 with an 02 ht you will need one (HardTopGuy)
* Your soft top brushes will not fit with the hardtop on, so if you want the brushes get them with the top or order them, but who really needs them?
* It has often been said that newer model s2k do not need the hardtop strykers because they come with thicker softtop strykers, while this is the case, they aren't as thick as the ht strykers and they wear out anyways, your better off ordering them. When I installed mine it was soo loud/rattley/squeeky that it killed the whole thing for me, almost to the point of regretting my purchase, one call to hardtopguy and i had my ht strykers and never heard another rattle.

Hope this was helpful.

Where do I find this wiring harness of 08+? I looked on HTguy's new site and there was nothing. Does anyone have a part number for the wireing harness for MY 08-09? If they are in fact drying up I would like to get one.
