FYI, AP2 mugen exhaust will fit on a AP1 with AP1 rubber hangers. The mufflers are very close to the bumper until you tighten the bolts to the converter flange.

Bumping this one up with a mugen exhaust question (yes, another one). I see above that installing a Mugen AP2 exhaust on an AP1 car can be done using the stock AP1 hangers. But I could have sworn that I read somewhere, sometime, that AP2 hangers are needed, as they are longer and will allow the exhaust to sit better, given the larger diameter of the exhaust tips. I plan on bolting an AP2 exhaust on my AP1 this weekend and don't feel like making multiple trips to the Honda store.

Thoughts or comments?

I would just try finding different rubber hangers. On my AP1 with AP1 Mugen exhaust, I wanted the cannisters to have as little space from the bumper. I found some Pontiac hangers that allowed the cannisters to sit exactly where I want them to.

I'd try and find a book that outlines the different shapes of rubber hangers out there...or head over to Pep Boys and see what they have in stock. I'm sure if you ask nice enough, they'll let you take two or three different ones to the back of your car so that you can hold them up to "eye" the ones that could work.

Will be installing the mugen air box in the next couple of days after my car gets out of the bodyshop. I've been trying to study the japanese instruction manual that came with it, but it's confusing as hell. I could of sworn there was an english translation somewhere on this fourm, but I can't find it anymore. Is there drilling required to secure the airbox at all? Any help from you Mugen guru's is greatly appreciated.

Yes...there's a mounting bracket that mounts to the main support beam in the bay. There's 4 self-tapping screws that you use to mount the bracket. What you do is mount the bracket to the intake and then place the intake in the engine bay of where it should sit. Then mark the four holes on the other side of the bracket using a Sharpie.

Take the intake out and undo the bracket. Then place the bracket on the beam over the 4 markings. Drive the 4 self-tapping screws into the beam to mount the bracket. Then reinstall the instake onto the bracket...the four 10mm bolts on the other side of the intake are a little difficult to get to, but you can get them easy with a ratcheting box wrench.
