Default Oil Cooler; Mix and Match

Here is a short post on an oil cooler setup I recently
installed on my daily/track car. I've used this type of
setup on a K-series engine in the past with positive results.
  • Mishimoto Thermostatic Oil Sandwich Plate [MMOP-SPT]
  • Fluidyne Therm-Hx Fluid Cooler; 18 row plated, double pass [DB-30617]
  • Slim radiator fan
  • -10AN connectors and oil lines
I used the two existing holes in the cross member brace
with threaded rod to bolt the home made brackets and cooler to.

Mishimoto makes a very nice thermostatic sandwich plate
with its replaceable thermostat which is also adjustable;
180F or 200F. -10AN ports.
I was very careful to keep the lines as short as possible as well as to keep the lines from touching "anything".

This is a shot from below the car.
-12AN outlets to and from the oil cooler,
reduced to -10AN at the cooler.

A slim fan to allow oil cooler to fit.
OEM fan was to deep for the cooler to fit.
I decided to mount the oil cooler behind the AC and coolant radiators to keep them cooling efficiently.

Could you move your oil cooler to a different location? Lower position? Like where the front bumper brake duct is?

I think it would help is to move it to the diver-side more than it is now, the issue being that the 2 90deg bends are right up against the frame rails. In its current position there is no other way to make it work. So more to the driver-side should help eliminate the 90deg issue. I will review and post up some pics.

Reason why I suggested the passenger side is because it'll keep all your oil cooler stuff to one side

Thanks! However the cooler will not fit out there.
Besides that it would put weight further out from the center of the car.
And, more brackets to be made and possibly welded, not crazy to take that on at the moment.

Just moving the cooler to the driver side by something like 2inches, is all that really needs to happen.
Also by going to the driver side, it will sit more behind the AC fan which can be turned on manually with the AC switch.
Updates to follow...
