Default Oval Scratch from Oem Mirrors

Hey guys, so i just switched my mirrors to the apr gt3 mirrors and i realized theres a pretty bad oval mark left by the oem mirror. Does anyone know how to get rid of the mark for good? I've tried waxing and polishing but the paint now seems feel thinner in the part where the mirror was. I've temporarily put a sticker over it but still some of it shows. Any solutions?

Example picture? If it's past clearcoat then you're pretty much screwed. If not, what these guys said ^^

I didn't wet sand at first, i just kept waxing and polishing the area. The spot is pretty small but i think i polished off some of the clear coat so i guess I'm screwed lol

Waxing adds material over the clear to fill in any uneven areas to get a smoother finish. The polish would remove some of that, but typically polish won't strip the wax off.

Get some Meguiar's 105 Ultra Cut Compound, some microfiber clothes, and Dawn dish soap. Use the Dawn to wash the area, it's pretty good for removal of everything on the car but not abrasive. Then use a dab of the compound with a microfiber and work it into the area. Sunlight is pretty helpful here to see if the compound is still on the area when you're done or think you need to add some more.

edit: add pictures!
