Default Paint Protection between Bumper and Lip

Hi guys,

i hope you understand my question.

i want to buy an oem ap1 lip and would like to protect my
paint on the oem front bumper.
also i want to avoid water getting between lip and bumper.

how did u do it?
on pictures, sometimes i saw a kind of black rubber or something similar.

i dont think that an afertmarket lip will come with that protection thing..

maybe you can give me advice

best regards
Dominik

All OEM AP1 lip will come with the black rubber molding as pictured.

If you want to protect your paint as an option what they call is a clear bra similar to this. You can have custom ones wrapped to only the lip or one specific to the bumper.

Water getting in between the lip and bumper will not be a problem with the rubber molding and proper installation, I highly doubt it will get between from outside but it can get water from underneath. In that case what you need is this thing when you wanna ride on water.

Aftermarket lip will most likely not come with the black rubber molding but you can get some for fairly cheap at any Honda or Toyota Dealership.

thanks hoang

that rubber molding is exactly what i imagine!

do u have a picture, where you can see how the rubber molding is mounted in detail?

it has to go around the edge of the lip, so the rubber molding must have a 90 degree, i think.. !?

It only goes at the top of edge of the lip and goes around a bit behind the bumper once installed.

the molding is usually shaped like a "T" where the bottom portion sits between the lip and bumper with double sided tape.

Ahh ok so the weather stripping actually sits between the bumper and the lip? always thought it was just sticking to the top of the lip

honda & toyota molding is going to do the same thing, it's just a visual piece so there is a break/cushion between the lip and the bumper. Neither molding will prevent water from getting on the bumper, underneath the lip
