just buy a cold air intake and you do not need the heat shield

It's more of a decorative piece really. It may block some heat, but not a big amount. Looks great though

for the price you could make it out of aluminum and cover it with a carbon sheet laminate cheaper

m202 seriously, how much heat could it prevent from reaching the airbox for 200.00. I believe in buying parts that do something. If its just for engine dress up, I understand. in your pic, you still have the factory airbox, which is insulated from engine heat to an extent. My original statement was to purchase a cold air intake for 100-150 dollars more and this piece is no longer needed, even if it does work. Just trying to give an honest opinion before someone spends money on another JDM gimick that does nothing. The only time the part may make sense is if he has an aftermarket intake with the filter exposed or piping that is very close to the engine.

hmmm...so people shouldn't waste their money on rims, carbon fiber this and that...interior items, emblems, paint jobs. ok.

or wasting your time responding to people that aren't willing to "waste" the money required to even support the board that they post trash on

I am not posting trash if that is what you are implying, I simply gave an opinion to the member inquiring about the heat sheild. I also gave an option to the member that would save him some moeny and complete the same result. I believe that another manufacter makes this plate out of aluminum and wraps it as I stated. I simply inquired about the function of the part.
As for "wasting" money on wheels and other sorts of items, some wheels are lighter than others, some look better. Those are preference items.
I simply gave an opinion and that is all, I did not start a bashing session if you look through the post.
As well I have supported this site with other things besides money at this point. If the 50.00 a year proves my support, consider it done.
