Default password:jdm intake and hydrolocking

hey guys, I'm considering this take for my ap1, '03 s2000. I've done a search on pwdjdm hydrolocking and came up empty handed. only hits I get are for Injen/AEM. I also see a few things about fitment issues, but it seems that these were from when the I take originally came out.

has anyone recently purchased this intake and can comment on the fit?

does anyone in northern states run this intake? I don't drive, or plan to drive, my car in winter. but we do get some rainy days. I already know all the terrible roads that firm small lakes where it rains, and avoid them.

can anyone comment on the hydrolocking with password:jdm intake? at all possible?

I'm not looking to stir anything up, just honest suggestions, first hand experience.

thanks guys!

IMO - with such type of Intakes (Shnorkel/PWJDM/J's Racing Tsuchinoko) - it is almost impossible.
Instead of CAI (AEM/Injen etc).
I don't know what can happen so the water will be at intake.

I do not have this brand intake. But I have the K&N Typhoon cold air intake and I did hydrolock my motor.

I don't see it hydro locking but maybe this post can reassure you.. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/634...t__p__14394778

I would personally go with the LEVEL 7 intake if your were going to get something really bulky like that the Password JDM..

I also found this interesting http://youtu.be/BwEA9ZSap9k

The password jdm intake will weight less then the level7 intake and it has proven result. Also with the password intake unless you submerge the snorkel in water I highly doubt that you'll ever hydrolock your motor. With any aftermarket intake always watch out for puddles and don't drive really close to anyone and you'll be fine

Also I'm looking to password for my intake once my warranty is up.

I looked through the first couple pages of that thread, good info. I imagine since I haven't found any info on on hydrolocking and passwordjdm then I should be OK

I have this intake. To hydrolock your motor with it youd have to drive into a pond. The amount of water that would actually get up to the filter is minimal even if driving in heavy rain. The reason the Injen/AEM intakes risk hydrolocking is because the filter is located down behind the bumper and is exposed.

I have one. Unless you're in a flood that rises to the point it starts leaking through your door I don't think the hydro lock chance is there. I live in tropical Asia so I get alot of rain

I run this intake on my '01 AP1. As others have said unless you are up to your doors in water, literally; you can't hydrolock with this intake. As to fitment it still sucks for such an expensive intake. But after a few hours, many beers, and lots of swearing it can fit very well. I have tested and run many intakes over the years and settled on this one.
