If they even did fit, you could probably buy another S2000 for what it is going to cost you.

Yeah, um man, porsche brakes are nothing more than brembo's tuned for that that car....

I'd have the say the best brakes are AP Racing or Stoptech..

Just so were clear here....if money is no object, Porsche makes better brakes than Brembo, Stoptech, and Wilwood.

I have the Brembo big brakes on my 996 both front and rear. At the time I had 19"s on the car and did it primarily for looks. I've only tracked my porsche twice both times with the Brembo big brakes.
The cost of the front and rears was about 5500$. You can pick up the original brakes on the car for next to nothing. If someone is interested in trying the conversion I can get you a set of new/used 996 brakes for dirt cheap. I have no idea who could fabricate the things to fit but I could easily get a fairly large supply of used brakes that are pretty much new, rotors/calipers/pads and all. Another option would be the GT4 monoblock. They are significantly bigger than the stock 996 brakes and significantly cheaper than the brembo big brake kit.
The "Big Reds" are for 993 if my memory serves me correctly. I know that the last time I changed my pads on my brembos I was in San Fran and used a shop that I wasn't familiar with. By my own error I had them order the big reds and they of course fit but when they test drove the car they were squeaking without the brake pedal being used.
Anyways, if anyone is interested in getting a set to try to creat a "retrofit" kit. Shoot me a PM.

You're right there are alot of quality brake kits out there for the S, but there is always room for some healthy competition. Porsche brakes are the definition of "Perfection" and if they could be fitted to our cars then hell, I wouldn't mind rolling around with a set of Red Calipers sporting the porsche logo.

I have yet to see any numerical data on the Stoptech brake kit for our cars. The fact that the caliper is so large makes it very difficult to use without a huge spacer or odd offset wheels that account for their size along with longer studs.

If the Porsche BBK works then why not. Piston sizing should be a consideration unless someone wants to play with master cylinder sizing, ABS and proportioning. I would doubt that the handbrake would work, though it really isn't that big of a deal (IMO). I have looked in to AP calipers and they are:
1) very wide
2) high maintenance (if using the race calipers
3) going to be difficult to sort out (not impossible)
4) expensive

I fitted the Porsche Boxter Brakes (Red) on my 03 VW GTI. It was the one of the best mods for the money. The upgrade cost $1000. I would definity fit these on my S. I think I'll try it!

I'm down to try this!
Porsche brakes are excellent.
Cannot go wrong with Brembo!

Stoptech, well, I just think of them as a copy of the Brembo caliper....they look identical!

I was always under the "ASSumption" that Porsche manufactured their own brakes. If this is not the case, I stand corrected, and apologize.

I am interested in the BIG RED kit, although I can get a decent deal on the BIG YELLOWs as well.

My pricing was

BIG BLACK - 159 a caliper
Big Red - 320 a caliper
Big Yellow - 550 a caliper.

I believe the big Yellows are the ones that the PCCB setup uses, which is an 11000 dollar option on the 996. But remember, these prices do NOT include rotors. The carbon discs on the PCCBs are a lot of money.

Im gonna try and score a better price for the big reds, and see if they work out.
