After driving that setup for a few days I decided to tinker and see if the OEM filter would fit. What I found was that the OEM filter actually slips over the FIPK tube with about 1/16" extra clearance. As a temporary work around I wrapped the FIPK tube with duct tape until the OEM filter slid on snug and the tightened it with a hose clamp.

My impressions are that the OEM filter flows better than the DryFlow. It could be entirely placebo, but the car really seems to pull better with the paper filter.

What is not placebo is the difference in sound. The dryflow tends to muffle the sound a little, so it is less pronounced. The induction sound is definitely louder with the paper filter. It is a personal preference as to which sound is "better", but for my taste I very much like the sound with the OEM paper filter better.

I'm going to keep running the paper filter, but I probably need to figure out something better than duct tape to make it a snug fit.

Here is a picture:

Did you ever figure out an alternative to the duct tape solution? I'm interested in doing this!

Amazon Amazon

Incase the link dies: Neoprene Rubber Strips 1/16 (.062)" Thick X 2" Wide

That rubber seal works, get the one without the adhesive. I used some spray on Gorilla glue adhesive but you could probably do without that.

I think you responded to my Reddit post!! I left a question on there too, but are you putting this rubber seal between the OEM filter and the K&N FIPK adapter? and the glue is for sticking the seal to the FIPK? or are you wrapping both the OEM filter and the adapter with this seal?

I wrapped the K&N FPIK tube with that seal, the adhesive goes between the intake tube and the rubber seal. You can slip on the stock filter over the tube+seal. It is a bit tight but it works.

I'm not sure what you mean by wrap the filter. The filter sits just like the K&N filter would and I used a hose clamp to secure it to the intake pipe

Just curious, does that ASM bar get in the way of removing and installing the K&N intake?
