I would use 600 dry if it's not primed then if you have any primer put a few light coats and sand it wet with some 1200 . You might not save any money bec, every shop likes to do it a different way. Also if the paint starts to peel they might blame it on you because, you prepped it for paint. I would just leave the hole job for them .. When I used to paint for my body shop I would not start something that someone already tried to work on .

hondata is right, we don't like to do follow up job, sometime a client coming in with a prepped part(with good intention) and we end up doing double the work.

it really depends on the finish you have right now, if you have a new oem painted lip with zero miles, the prep work only consiste of light sanding the lip(wet like always) basecoatd and clearcoat. the sanding is cross hatch action for max mechanical adhesion

if you have a scratch or cracking paint on the current lip, we have to take it down to the ecoat/material, primer, sealer, basecoat and clearcoat

if you have no idea what i just said(which is pretty normal) just have them do it.

If you know someone it should not be more then $100.. That's what I would charge for someone I don't know but , I always had good prices. And that is maybe sealer if it needs it but, it

Owwww I used to know alll about double the werk lol...

Yeppp You are 100% on the money ... Also if you have any scratches or cracks and if they are more deep then your finger nail.. Make sure the fill it with some kind of icing .. I use to love people who used to love and finger Fock things to try to get it out..

And see if they are going to wetsand and polish your lip after it done.. If it has any dirt or fisheyes and a lot of orange peel . I like my work to look like glass when it's done ..
