Thumbs up Proper maintenence for Cold Air Intake?

Hey guys, I've got a Ractive SF100 (SuperFlow) CAI filter. I was wondering what the proper maintenance of the whole CAI system should be? Also, I'm having trouble finding a cheap place to get CAI filters here in my area, so I was wondering if it's possible to clean or wash the filter so I can re-use it. I've got everything from weak to strong household cleaners, and at work I have an air gun. Any suggestions?

Try the K&N filter charger kit. Make sure you blow from the inside outward and not too hard of pressure. Follow the directions. If your really motivated, you can clean the tubing inside and out.

I wouldn't recommend household cleaners.

As for household cleaners, I hear some people just add a bit of weak solution and submerge their filter in a kitchen sink mixed with hot water and just dip it in and out for 15-20 mins. I would personally like to air blow it out though.

Just go down to your local parts store and buy a k&n recharge kit. You may also condsider buying a aem dry flo filter. You only have to wash it with soap and water, and it filters better.

Does it have to be an AEM Dry Flo? Could I do the same with my Ractive filter?

Sorry i wasn't clear. Your current filter is a K&N style filter. You use a K&N recharge kit to clean it, and then re-oil it. The AEM Dry Flo is a dry filter. You just wash it with soap and water, and then let it dry. Just a suggestion.

if it is like K&N may I suggest most people overclean these. K&Ns actually work best when slightly dirty. Also, when you do clean it be sure to not over oil it - the next biggest mistake. We sell a lot of these so see these issues often.

Good point. Over oiling will kill your MAP sensor. Hold the oil about a foot away from the filter and spray just enough to change the color. you don't want it to look wet at all.
