Default Random Technologies Catalylic Converter

I had a Random Technologies 4 inch cat necked down to 70mm. It was a nice looking piece but somewhere in the last 800 miles it gave up the ghost. It didn't last 1000 miles.
The car was getting quieter, still very loud but quieter. On the dyno it lost 60 rwhp and my tuner said it has to be the cat. Sure enough.

These cats apparently are not able to handle the extreme flow from boosted S2000s.

TEst pipe is what I would go with. Just get the one you can put the stock heat shield on or weld on your own tabs and you wont have to worry about getting hasseled too bad.

Two things:

1. Was it a ceramic element?
2. If so, does your car run rich?

Ceramic elements tend to die if the car runs rich.

If you had a metal element then damn.

Have you contacted them about it? I would. They are pretty cool guys.

did you call Random about a replacement? was there a problem with it? And yes, any REAL high HP car is going to lose some power putting on a cat. I rand the hell out of mine at 2 days of time attacks and no issues. im NA, but still it saw PLENTY of heat and use

How about this?

use it when your feeling spirited and switch back to cat-back when cruising. Word is the exhaust seals will leak and require occasional replacing.
