Thumbs up Rear Diff Gears

There is a ton of info on this subject, I've researched into it, and the only way ppl seem to really decide on this subject is to ride in a car that already has them installed. I was thinking 4.56 but i really don't want to hear it whining, so i was thinking 4.77 but Ive read that they are really short and riding on the Hwy can get a lil annoying since the revs are pretty high. So i was wondering if anyone in the Melbourne/Orlando Florida area had a 4.56/4.77 already installed? Any help is appreciated

I think puddymod is down in Florida down there. He's probably the guy you would want to talk to about this. He's done it all when it comes to differentials.

Just try driving on the highway in 5th gear. In 6th gear with 4.77 gears it should be 200 rpm's lower than that. Alos this might be better off posted in the Orlando forum. I love my 4.77 gears. I don't mind cruising in 6th with the gears. Drove all the way from NY to FL and back with them and was fine. RPM's are around 5k going 80 mph but doesn't bother me.

I'm sure it doesn't help it, but as long as the oil is changed and good, water temp is kept down i don't see it hurting it too bad, it is a high reving engine and it is built by Honda

Yeah you might burn oil a little faster but just keep tabs on it. More revs do put more wear on an engine but doesn't mean the engine can't handle the higher revs. 5k is not very high when it revs to 9000.
I say go with the 4.77 gears if you don't mind the high rpm highway cruising. Makes 6th gear more usefull though. I can pass in 6th now where before I would have to downshift to 5th gear.

I'd say go with the 4.77's if you're looking for more 'performance'. The revs do stay high in 6th gear cruising on the highway but the fun factor of driving the car with the gears outweighs the high RPM's.

From what I have *heard* the 4.56's/7s aren't much of a difference.
