No - I know that he was talking about rear tower bars (guys -- we DON"T HAVE STRUTS) ---

the stated purpose of aftermarket tower bars is to "stiffen" the rear...
which, as I said, is generally counter productive.

And like I said - one cheap mod is to remove the stock tower bar -- this loosens the rear and provides a bit more under steer ---
---- making the car a bit less likely to turn around if you're brutish in the corners.
I think there is misunderstanding between rolling resistance and torsional rigidity. The shock tower bar aids in torsional rigidity which should not be used to tune balance. The OEM bar looks to be better than any of the after market units which have pivots.

^^^ you're right -- people remove the rear sway bar - not the tower bar... or add a stiffer front of course.

and you're right about the OEM not having pivots

Scroll halfway down the page J's racing calls them front and rear "strut" bars. But I understand what your saying.

Why do you want to replace the stock one? If it's for looks you don't see it anyways. Obviously not for performance as it does not do anything. Just send me the money you are looking to spend on one and I will tell you I put one in for you. Won't notice it or see it after install anyways.

ha ha, just want one dude. sorta for looks i guess. and for the infinitely small amount of difference that it might make mentally, ha ha. my rear section is all stripped anyway, so yeah, you can see it. kept cabin's interior though.

so, i guess no manufacturer makes one without pivots huh? or one that attaches to the shock tower bolts instead of the floor around it?

anyone have pics of the j's racing bar or the carbing bar? i can't find any actual pictures on the net. all the ones listed are just samples taken from other cars.

Is this your final mod to your car? Is your car completely done forever? If not, spend the money on something else.

Honda calls them tower bars...

And honestly, J's (both J's japan and J's USA) have told people to mount their BBK upside down... even did it on their track car for a while until someone pointed it out

I don't have much faith in the marketing side of J's...

thanks... yeah, that's the stock unit. i contacted the guy selling the carbing, and it does have joints, however it can be mounted with the stock bar attached as well. so i'll probably get that.
