Default Rear Strut Tower Bar install and torque?

Is there an install guide to installing a rear strut tower bar? Or at the very least, what torque do I use on the bolts? I see the fronts are supposed to be at 36.

don't have my fsm in front of me, so i can't help you on torque...

but it all depends on what kind of rear tower bar you bought. there are 2 kinds: one that replaces the OEM bar (like Cusco), and mounts the same way, or one that actually bolts to the shock bolts (like Carbing, which I have.)

the OEM type is self-explanatory. just unbolt and replace with your new one.

the shock type is kinda a pain. i heard you can actually get the brackets into the opening after lots of patience, and with the car jacked up under the diff, to relieve stress. i tried. gave up after 2 hours of trying. got close, but no cigar.

the easier way is to actually unbolt the shocks from the car and drop the shocks down so that the studs are no longer in the way. then put the brackets in place. then push back up the shocks so that the studs go through your brackets, and then bolt into place.

good luck.

Thanks. Actually got front and rear Cusco bars. Good to know its easy to change in the rear. Now to figure out the correct torque.

i wouldn't worry about torque for those bolts. all they hold is that bar then. 20-25ft/lbs should do it. not critical.

^ yep I agree...I installed my cusco rear strut bar last sumemr and i was only able to thread one bolt on each side (the other two were inpossible to catch for some reason) and working in that tight spot is a real pain in the arshhh...the other two I just used zip ties...it's really not that critical if they're tight they're tight...20 lbs should be more than enough...if you're concerned just put a little loctite (that's what I did)
