There are several aftermarket JDM subframes available. They are reinforced in different ways. Search will put you in touch with pictures.

I have an extra ap2 subframe. is there any reason I would want to swap this into my ap1?

if you look at the Amuse or J's rear subframe you can see where they weld in additional bars to reinforce it. you could take the subframe you're putting in to someone who can add those bars for you.
