Red Dials!
Hi, I was sick of the horrible orange colour of the stock s2000 lcd dash and wanted to change it,
i found on these forums frome Qube who had found a way to change them, which involves installing an led light board in the instrument cluster and a new filter,
all the info on that can be found here... https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry15891725
however as i was looking, i agree you need white light behind a filter to make the dials white or blue or green etc.. but i wanted all red and thought i could do it myself with just a filter!
so, i set to work, following the instructions included in Qubes post above, the instructions for fitting his led board and replacement dials, its got full instructions on how to remove the instrument cluster and take it apart to get to the filter,
so from there, i took the horrid orange filter out, i found some file folder binder seperaters that were red and translucent, anything really would do as long as its red (i suppose making the dials all yellow or all orange is possible too)
you just gotta find the right thing, test it by holding it up against a lamp to make sure the colour shine through alright,
anyway, you'd notice the filter you take out is about 1mm thick and is made with the sort of plastic you'd find on a cd case, where as the sort of stuff i used was as thin as paper, in the end result it didnt matter, still looks amazing!
i used the stock filter as a trace to draw the shape onto my red folder seperators, i did three of them, i drew out the shape then cut them out with a stanley knife, then simply put them in place where the original filter was, re assembled the cluster, following Qubes instructions,
now re installed in the car, when i turned the car on afterwards i was amazed how good it was!! Red Dials!! awesome modification, recomend doing this for anyone who hates that stock two tone orange colour!

Just changing the filter is fine if you only drive at night but good luck seeing anything on your dash with the top down during the day. There is a reason he replaces the lighting with LED's.
note taken, but disagree, can see all red, all the time! am just uploading photos on photobucket as i type, hold fast guys (i wouldent have gone to all that effort writing that out if it wasnt worth it!) will post link very shortley!
