Default Reliablility/practicality mods?

Sup guys. New to the forums, and have a question for you gurus out there.

So, I recently purchased an s2k. As much as I would want this car to be the baddest mofo on the block, I just can't justify throwing huge amounts of money into a car and have it break down in the future.

My question is this: What are the best mods to put on the car, while keeping it as reliable and streetable as possible? Intake, header, exhaust are the only ones I can think of.

Thanks in advance.

Bling wise, you could get a BBK, bigger radiator, hard top. Those don't decrease the reliability of the car.

You could gain some reliability by installing a catch can and getting rid of the stock pcv system. No more blow by oil gumming up all sorts of places it shouldnt be.

drive it for awhile before mods, and i'm sure yo'llu decide on something that needs changing, then research it on the site.

Definitely drive the car for awhile and decide what you want to change and why. You will me amazed how good the parts are stock.

Bolt ons are pretty worthless in terms of power, but intake/exhaust can make some nice noise.

If you wanted to do big mods that don't have any negatives I would say hardtop and wheels. Nicer head unit and an ipod hookup goes a long way. As far as practical goes, it's tough to beat brake pads, spark plugs, tires and synthetic oil.

be smart and buy mods that will work for you. I would work on suspension and brakes first, exhaust and intake, wheels and tires then go nuts on interior and exterior. Maintainance also plays a huge part of it too. Good luck to you.

The diff on these cars is weak, as are the rear axles. A mod that would get you better reliability and better acceleration would be to reinforce the diff and swap to new gears at the same time.

If you baby the car or just drive it normally, the diff should never be an issue. But if you track it frequently or beat on it a lot or do high rpm clutch drops, this would be worth doing.

I wish I would have gotten my hardtop sooner. I've spent more than I did on my hardtop on different intakes and exhaust systems. If you do want an intake and exhaust for sound, the K&N FIPK and HKS hi-power exhaust with a test pipe sound amazing.
