Default Removed CDV, still slipping

So the CDV starting making my clutch slip/float like crazy after putting on some wider stickier tires. I removed it and it didn't really seem to help any. After doing some more research is seems that the PP and/or flywheel is to blame. The only problem is i also read that a lighter weight flywheel causes rpm's to drop so fast that i may fall outside of vtec during shifts.

My car:
MY08 ap2
+FIPK Intake
+70mm HFC
+70mm T1R EM dual
+SSR type C wheels 17X8, 17X9 wrapped in 225/45 and 255/40 Z1 starspec tires
+CDV removed

My planned future mods:
+Act PP i think?
+Aftermarket clutch (not sure which one but only slightly more aggressive, help?)
+AP1 flywheel
+Hondata reflash (to fix the drop out of vtec issue that results from a lighter fly. I want the reflash without header. Just want a bit more vtec. Too low of vtec i feel like we are trying to make this car drive not such much like an s2k. Also I do not want to buy a piece of crap expensive header when the stock is just fine)
+AP1 intake cam (to take full benefit of the higher rev line)

So what you guys think of my solution?

The pressure plate is the root of your problem. In the early years, the pp was widely acknowledged as the weak point in clutch grab. The addition of a CDV in the AP2 confused the issue for most people, but it's still there, as you've found out. The Act PP is a great choice to improve clutch grab, but I would keep the stock friction disc. It's perfectly adequate unless you're making serious hp mods (FI).

I plan on getting a S/C is the distant future if I get bored. So i figure a clutch upgrade would be good to set that up since i would have to drop the tranny anyway.

Any recommendations? It seems that people dont think as highly about ACT clutches as they do of their PP.

That's because most aftermarket friction discs aren't eactly comfortable to drive. They're too aggressive, making the clutch difficult to operate smoothly in street/traffic driving.

The flywheel is also part of this issue, however with the ap1 flywheel you should be good.

I just worry about dipping under vtec from the lightened fly. I will probably do all the tranny mods the same time as a hondata reflash to cure that problem.

I think you should drive a car with the reflash before you make your decision.

ap1 flywheel, act pp, oem disk, and you will still be fine on a supercharger

i dont see how the flywheel makes a difference or not, as far as staying in vtec. sure it lets the revs rise/drop quicker, but when you're shifting, its actual road speed that determines what RPM you will be at in the next gear.

as far as clutches go, i had a fidanza 8lb flywheel and kevlar clutch disc kit in my prelude. i loved it. too bad they dont make one for the S.
