Default Removing windshield tape

Hey guys

Thinking about peeling off the windshield frame tape on my 06, but I know some people have done it to find the paint wrecked from sanding at the factory. Are there certain model years that are more likely to have this or is it random? I'd imagine it's a tough area to repaint as well.

Give it a shot or leave it alone?

Im having this same dilemma. I've decided to go ahead and remove it (mine is a MY00) and if I find infamous scuffs underneath, Im going to try and polish it. If it wont come out, I can always just get some body colored windshield tape made

I have an 04 and I did it, but I had a few bad spots and a chipped paint.
Left me no choice but to get it repainted after I took the tape off.

Guess it really is hit or miss. I peeled mine off a couple of years ago. Paint was perfect underneath. Top down I think it looks much better. Top up not sure which I like better really.

Interesting as MY06 I thought came tape less, mine did and I put tape on for now as I have a CF HT, If I paint I'll just take it off.
With MY00 I removed the factory tape (its tedious) but came out perfect underneath. So I guess its hit and miss.
have pics of MY 06 taping if you want to see, its very easy especially if you trace out to get the correct fit. btw my tape is the 3m di noc vinyl.
