Default Replacing MY00 Soft Top Frame

I'm considering replacing my top/plastic window on my MY00.

I know I need an '02 or newer AP1 frame to get the glass window top. Will an '06 frame fit without mods or very minimal mods?

You don't need a new frame. Just get an aftermarket Robbins or EZ-On top from eBay and they'll include the necessary straps. Some sellers even have walkthrough video instructions.

So the stock frame and motors will support the glass window?

Correct, but it needs to be modified.

you'll save money and labor going with the aftermarket glass tops fitted for MY00-01. swapping frames is at least an 8 hour job

That was the info I was looking for. I had a deal lined up on a frame, but it sounds like that is too much of a PITA. I replaced a top before on my Miata, and I know how much it sucks to just replace the top. 8 hours of wrestling with a frame sounds worse.

If you can find a glass top already on a frame then do that. It will be by far the easiest solution. I dunno wtf this 8hr's to change frames is. But it is not that much more work to take the frame off if you are replacing the soft top already.
