Thumbs up Replacment Air Filter

Hey guys I usually drive without my stock air box cover with stock air filter. I dont want to buy a CAI yet. I wanted to just replace the filter, is there anything you recommend?

You can get some aftermarket replacement filter, but you may wanna put your airbox cover back since it actually helps not to suck hot air from your engine bay.

stay with stock, unless you want more "flow" at the cost of less filtration. how important is ~1-2 HP to you? put your cover back on unless you like sucking in hot air.

He most likely knows that taking the cover off causes heat soak, but likes the sound of it off.

^most filter, work about the same. they give about the same hp, but how it filter is all different. there are three types:foam, oil and dry. foam is the highest flow but least filtration. oil has more flow than dry/paper but less filtration. the paper most filtration but least flow. adding a filter will only give about 1~2 whp gain, which is in the range of dyno error. also, there has been no evidence that a least amount of flow has cause an engine failure, but it can lead to it. the only time i have seen an engine failure due to a filter is when i saw a monster turbo engine eat a foam filter and the engine when out. LOL FAILED!!!!
