So you can even pay $200 for someone to install it for you, and you still spent less than $1900. Find me an OEM hardtop with perfect paint in the exact color you want for that price installed.

I paid $1700 for my OEM hardtop with near perfect paint. The little scratches that it has can easily be buffed out for $100, or for $200-300 I could have it completely repainted and still be at that price point.

If you really want an OEM top you just have to be diligent and patient. Check places that not everyone else is watching, such as local FS threads, and Craigslist. If you do any traveling you can also search forums in areas that you will be traveling through. Thats what I did.

VIS top with upgraded rear seal and window seals: $1295 shipped w/ tinted rear plexi (I now have spyder seals, but I got them for a very good price because I did a review for him)

Paint: $350

Window weld to install rear window: $35 (price includes caulking gun)

Then install is pretty easy if you have a helper so that is free.

Total: $1680

I am very happy with my VIS top, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper nice top.
How much if you get someone else to do 100% of the paint and install? More than you quoted, but still cheaper than OEM I'm sure.

My problem with this top is that it doesn't look as good as OEM (to me). I really like the clean lines of the OEM top. Plus you aren't getting a rear defroster with these tops.

Yeah well I do live in a small town, and any hardtop for sale near me is way to far away. So getting one shipped to me would be way expensive. Also since they discontinued OEM hardtops in Suzuka, people are starting to ask more for them. I have seen them for $1900 picked up for a good condition one, but they are 1000 miles away from me and they won't ship. I like the Mugen style top so if I could get one for $1295 plus $350 to paint it however I want with brand new paint, it's hard to pass that up. Yeah I know these tops don't have a defroster, but I havent had any trouble with mine yet, so it's cool.

Also if you live in SoCal, Spyder562 will get you a good fitting mugen style hardtop with upgraded seals, get it painted however you want, install the rear window, and install it all for $1620 I believe.
