Roof makes a helluva noise at above medium speeds
Evening All (here anyway)
I have a 2000 S2000 (AP1), the roof is terribly loud at 60mph and above,if I pull down on the 'handle' in the center it gets A LOT quieter, will repacing the strikers with hardtop strikers fix this? If so, does someone know what the part number is, an if the part number is the same for RHD versions?

btw. Talking about a soft top
I searched the forum, and some recommend a washer/spacer fix, anyone have a link to a specific size/how to etc.
Also, still looking for the hardtop striker number if anyone has it?

The previous owner of my car, when he sold it to me, told me that this is a common problem, and that he had replaced the clips/clamps completely.
EDIT: That solved the problem, of course.

I'm quite sure the motor could tolerate quite a bit of jamming before it melted, and yes, jamming any electric motor and applying current is bad, but I wouldn't say that this is what we're talking about here, it's just a tap to back it out a millimetre so it grabs. Good idea that.

^I used to do the latch your roof, then act like your lowering it trick before I replaced the strikers. It definitely lowers the wind noise inside the cabin, I would say more than just replacing the strikers.
I did that for about 2 years before I finally decided to just replace the strikers.

been running into this exact same issue ever since I acquired my MY00 S2k. I tried buying Shinetsu grease but that didn't help any. I'll try the lowering the softop trick.

i would say the grease first for cheapy, then attempt at the strikers...
could try putting something rubber inbetween so it's thicker and then securing the roof... give the strikers some resistance... could help, if so you know to change the strikers...
