I believe this is the correct chart for an AP2 on 4.77 gearing. Note that 80 MPH lands very close to 5,000 RPM. Maybe 4,900 RPM to be exact.

Thanks for the opinions Everyone but I called the guy I bought it from and all he did was rev up the rpms so he could hear the motor more and he said to go to the dealer and get it turned down and that his car was in a club so that's why he needed to hear the motor more

Is the guy you bought your car from a 7 year old? Because that is the type of explanation you would receive from a child.

Here is the gearing plot for a stock AP2

As you can see, in 6th gear you should be around 4,200 RPM at 80 MPH.

I think you have a 4.77.

Thanks for the chart .... It helps explain it a lot better...
Is having a 4.77 bad thing ?

Just for highway driving (as you have noticed) and having to shift so much in stoplight traffic. And knowing that someone (who apparently is retarded) has tinkered with your differential.

Given that you can shift well, you should be able to beat guys off the line though!

You buy an oem final drive gear, and swap it into your differential (or buy a oem diff).

Other thing is; it could have been the secondary reduction gear. Although, that's a much less known about way to change gearing.

I've never cracked open a diff so someone else would have to tell you what to look for to confirm it was the final drive gear, before you start throwing money around.

it's probably the cheapest and the easiest way just to buy a used OEM diff and sell the one you have right now.

as for the secondary reduction gear in the transmission... since the OP has a 04, swapping only the reduction gear from ap1 will not explain what's going on with OP's car because the ap1 has a longer secondary reduction gear.

I have an AP1 with 4.56s or 4.57s. Previous owner installed. I'm at 5000 RPM at 80 MPH as well. On a full highway trek I get about 270ish miles to a tank. Around town (60% city/40% highway)I get anywhere from 220-240 miles per tank. I usually refill around 11 gallons to full so I'm getting around 19-21 mpg. I vtec every day.

Even cruising at 5000 RPM your mileage really shouldn't be that poor.

Edit: Also note that if you do have aftermarket gearing, your speedometer might not be correct. I'd take some sort of GPS device and see if your speedometer is reading properly. Mine does not read properly which is kind of a pain in the ass. I didn't even realize it until a year after owning the car and noticing cars on youtube shifting at higher speeds than me.
