Default S2000 Beginner

I am new to this site and to Honda's. I just purchased a 2006 S2K with only 3,000 miles on it! I couldn't pass it up and have loved the design and power this car has to offer.

What I am very interested in is modifying this vehicles engine or anything else, in order to get as close as I can to 20 more horses w/o having to spend more than $2,000.

Is this possible? If not, surely 10-15 horses should be with $2,000.

Also, can anyone refer me to a genuine website that has accessories for S2K's? I have been searching around the internet and a lot of bogus sites pop up saying they have accessories for S2K's, but are really showing one size fits all (not specifically made for an S2K) sort of accessories.

Any input on either of these questions will be greatly appreciated and I can't wait to start learning more about my S2K.

Thanks Everyone

Thanks for your response, but I was hoping for more details than that. Could you elaborate on certain types of exhaust?

Look at the official exhaust and header threads (google s2ki official exhaust or s2ki official header). The PLM header is supposed to be the main good budget header at less than 500 bucks.Seeing as you are lucky enough to own an 06 I would probably get an AEM v2 or v3 intake, an affordable exhaust and then a tune. Tune alone should net you close to 10-15 hp. Look at kpro and other tuning solutions.

So in short. pickup a intake exhaust with test pipe or high flow cat and a tuning solution. If money allows grab a header too so you can tune for everything at once. Should net some nice gains.

Get a Flashpro.

Read the existing threads and don't forget the always overlooked mod: track time.

+1 for takeshi. Track time will make you go faster (corners at least).

But if you are just looking to gain max HP with a budget then you can look into the following:

Gutted OEM air box (free) + ebay snorkle (easier for engine to breath)
or
AEM V2 cold air intake - it's proven to make power
PLM header (J's Racing copy) - shown to gain hp
Berk's 3" header back exhaust - proven to gain power
Brian Crower stage 2 cams - suppose to make good hp (claimed 13wph)
Apex'i Neo (or VAFC) + tuning - small gain

there ya go, you are now within you reach of 10-15hp gain or even more. Enjoy!

btw all of these parts can be purchased through our vendors.

I say enjoy your car for now. Once you start modding it becomes an addiction. I waited a year until I bought my first mod.
