So basically I bought an s2000 CR off auction. I found out a lot of the parts where swapped and I was wondering if theres a way to tell what kind of rack & pinion I have.
I bought a used off of a 2007 but then I realized the ratios are different.

The 2007's sticker says: S2NAE 04M S2A-A0
JL04-013184

The one on my 2008 cr is: S2NAE 06M S2A-A0
JL06-008711

I also know this is kinda off topic but my steering rack wont give power steering when I turn right, but left almost seems too easy. When the car is off and lifted off the ground they both turn the same amount. It has 24k miles so i don't think it could be wearing out.
What do you think the problem is?

 

I have the Power Steering Gear Box on 2007 as PN 53602-S2A-A02 which is the slow ratio version of the S2000 PS Gear Box and used from '04-'09.

I also have the PS Gear Box for the '08-'09 CR as PN 53602-S2A-S02 which is the quick ratio version of the S2000 PS Gear Box.

The PS Gear Box for '00-'03 is PN 53602-S2A-A01 and is also a quick ratio version of the PS Gear Box but not compatible with the CR.

The steering issue may be because you need to follow the procedure to have the Torque Sensor memorize the neutral position. It should be in the service manual somewhere in the sections between 17 and 19 as I recall.

 

The ap1 and CR rack have the same ratio, but compatibility beyond that may be different, I don't know.

 

You can use the AP1 steering rack in only the '04-'05 version of the AP2. You can also use the '04-'05 rack in the AP1. I've done both.

 

Can you use the CR rack in 06 -09 ap2s?

There's a problem when I try to reset the torque sensor. When the car is on there is no eps light, but when the car is in first or second position the eps light is on, which doesnt allow me to reset the torque sensor.

 

I believe 04-05 and 06-09 AP2s (non-CR) should be different racks and part numbers due to VSA in 06+.
