Default S2K Hardtops?

I'm an S2K n00b, having just bought an '03 AP1 with just under 60,000 miles on the odo. I'm planning on building it into a track day car.

I know nothing about Hardtop options. Please educate me about OEM hardtops, aftermarket hartops, lightweight fiberglass, mounting kits, etc. etc. No need to tell me to search the site. Thanks.

OEM hardtop $2500-3500
Izzy's Race mounts : $100
Gut out softtop, put oem hardtop on. Save 50 lbs.
Spend $20 and get s2ki membership.

That's stupid expensive. I bought a used hardtop for my Miata race car for $900 and nothing is required for mounting (and it was the same color as car). Guess I'll stick with the soft top. I assume a used OEM S2K hardtop is hard to find.

It really is retardedly expensive. I have to agree there.

There are plenty of more space in terms of driving skills to be improved rather than throwing on a hardtop. There are also plenty of other suspension mods you can do first if you plan to make it a track day car.

Yes it is expensive. My friend miata owner bought his ht for less than a grand.
