Seat locks are part of the battle. You don't want some jerk cutting your top only to find he cannot remove the seats. I have inside mount vinyl decals that state McGuard Seat locks installed. You may want to have some made too. Got mine on eBay.

Or just rarely lock the car Mine has nothing in it of any value and even my aftermarket HU cost under $200. Would rather them nab that and some change easilly than cut my top.

You're relying on the thief being smart enough to check if the car is locked before cutting the top to steal the seats.

Stealing is stupid (the value of the thing being stolen vs risk of getting caught), and stupid people do stupid things.

Seat locks are nice, I've had a set few years back.

But the bigger problem these days is thieves towing the cars instead.

Agreed, but most people will pull a door handle before doing something that is very obviously breaking in, like cutting a top. So most of the time this will prevent damage to the top. I know a lot of examples of peoples cars being broken into in their driveway when unlocked... none of them had broken windows or, in the case of my friend with a convertible, the top was not cut People, while stupid, are also inherently lazy and check the easy way first most times.

Also agree with the comments above about the towing. That is my biggest worry about theft in the S. Like I said, I keep nothing of value in itand there is little reason for someone to steal from it. But these days theives with flatbeds can be gone in no time. And bystanders will just stand by and ignore a blaring car alarm. I think the best "deterant" is to be very careful where you leave it parked.

My car had seat locks on it when I bought it. Contrary to wheel locks, which are all but useless and very easy to remove, they are a bit harder to get off of this car. I will say though that mine worked loose when I was at an autox and I did not have the key. It was not all THAT hard to get to them with pliers and tighten them, but would be harder to remove if tight without the key so they probably slow down a theif a lot more than wheel locks would. I wonder though if seat theft is much of a thing like it used to be in these cars though. I know it was pretty bad in the past.
