Default Snorkels!

Hello S2ki,

I am looking to pick up a snorkel for some extra cooling and some extra growl as well. Who sells a good snorkel these days?! I've seen the Spoon and the Password, but I guess I am a lil frugle and I am just lookiing for something simple or cheaper, haha. Let me know any options you guys have seen whether its Ebay or shine! I am open to suggestions before I decide to just buy a Spoon snorkel.

P.S. - preferably no hood cutting! Thanks guys.

You are limited if you don't cut your hood. I think the PWJDM doesn't require the hood to be cut but I think all the spoon and replicas of it require it.

Ya I guess hood cutting isn't out of the question by any means! Just was hoping there would be a few other options...I know spoon makes a snorkel that doesn't involve cutting the hood. Haven't seen too many good replicas floating around so was curious to see what's out there.

I thought the spoon one requires it. That's why the spoon hood has that lump in the front on the passengers side.

I've got the J's Racing snorkel that is designed for the oem hood, I think it looks better than the Spoon and fitment is also better from what I have seen. I bought mine used, J's racing probably doesn't fall under the "cheap" pricing requirement though.

I really like this snorkel and I'd buy one again if required. I don't have a single mark on it, no cracking or fade in several years of use, along with what the previous owner put on it, it still looks brand new.

There is no difference in noise, so it doesn't really growl. You do notice a more consistent drive throughout the day with much less heat soak issues, more dirt gets into the air box though. I have not had a drop of water get into the box even in the heaviest of storms, which is good.

^^^would you like to sell your J's snorkel!? :-) I would love to find a J's or a spoon snorkel that is used but not abused. I was just looking for a cheaper snorkel because I don't need a $500 brand new snorkel for the track ya know?

Here's a pic of mine, sorry but I don't want to sell it as it is one of my favourite mods. They do come up on the used parts for sale forum from time to time, maybe put up a post in the want to buy forum and see if someone has one available. I saw someone selling a password jdm one recently.
