Default Soft top not installed, Should I negotiate down?

I'm looking at a 2002 S2K where the owner sold off the hard top and hasn't installed the soft top. It looks like he's selling it without the soft top installed.
After some research it looks like the installation is quite involved. Do you guys think it would be reasonable ask for a discount for the top not being installed?

Of course.
Personally id look for one with a roof otherwise you're going to have a point A to point A car.

Do a search on how much 2poor2mod charges for labor for his softtop install. He's done more than anyone on this car.

Not enough information.

Is there a dirty box with all the parts needed?
The frame and motors still in the car and working?
All the latches?

Replacing the roof on a car that has a currently functional roof runs $1200 - $1500 including new fabric and skilled installation.

Discount from what price?

Chuck, good questions.
So it looks like the frame is out of the car too. I would assume that he'll have all the parts, but I will confirm with him and in person when I finally get to take a look.

As for discounting, I have negotiated a price based on the parts on the car plus some of the OEM parts I would like.
So I try to negotiate down if I'm taking the car as is.

Quick fix is another hardtop -- if you want a coupe. Frames for sale appear here and on Ebay infrequently. Hopefully everything is there.

Saw this video recently where a S2000 roof and frame was removed and replaced in the car. Should give you an idea what's required. (I only previewed this.)

Has the parts, and as ALL the parts are two different things. Little things are all too easy to lose, and sometimes hard to replace.

It may look all there, but you won't know until someone tries to reinstall it.

Right,
I guess I'll try and make a list of hardware from some videos or take a look at the pieces that come with replacement kits.

Thanks

Without knowing the price they are asking yes not having the soft top where it should be would make the car worth less. Now if they already have it priced well below the market rate for the condition of the car then asking for more off is likely pointless.
