Speed bleeders, when backed out partially, act as a check valve and allow you to do the pump bleed method with one person. When you step on the brake the bleeder allows fluid to flow out. But when you let off the pedal in between pumps, it prevents air from being drawn back in. Its faster than gravity.

These look pretty sweet and I may have to pick some up. But I've got the same question. Which are better, Earl's or Speedbleeder?

I think Earls are better constructed. They're both cheap enough that it probably doesn't matter.

With a Power Bleeder you don't need speed bleeders. The power bleeder puts the break fluid under pressure from the MC. No check valve needed because there is no chance of back flow.
