Default Spoon style hardtop

Here is a little DIY I have put together for installing the spoon style hardtop. This started as just a thread to show the top but i've been adding to it here and there so i'm just going to make a DIY out of it. I have started to add more info to this due to the increase in PM's to me with questions about the top. (which i don't mind btw) It just seems that there is a growing number of people in need of useful info. This will be a WIP for a little bit as I organize pics and steps. Please let me know of any specific questions or something I missed.

Since my softtop was junk I decided to take it and most of the interior out

Test Fit..

Fitment was great! i give it 9/10 now time to weather strip and fasten it down.
**These pics added 8/24/10

In this pic it shows where I put the weatherstrip on the underside of the main section. it will sandwich in there when its tightened down. This also helps with wind noise. Use weatherstrip adhesive to hold it in place otherwise the pressure from the top will push it out of place. Which you can see mine is starting to do.

Not long after installation I found that the supplied foam weatherstripping is junk. I used rubber weatherstrip from home depot.
I put one long peice on the bottom of the main section all the way around where is contacts the boby(this will stop creaking). same on th back of the main section where the rear section sits on it. and the two supplied window weather stripping.
This is the DOO DOO foam.

3 of the 5 brackets that mount the main section

The 2 sides, 1 behind each window. I've noticed there are a few variations to how this one mounts. On mine, the bottom of the bracket clips into a pink clip which I believe is the bottom on a trim peice.

And the finished product...before paint..thats next week.

Also your latches will most likely rattle. Here are fixes found by other members that I did. Hardtop strikers will not work because the fiberglass can't handle the stress that the thicker ones put in the top to pull it.
