Default T1R Header

I was looking through the official header sticky and came across this:

T1R - $990
Tri-y design. Equal length 48mm primaries, 55mm secondaries, 65mm collector. This may very well become the best header available, but no information available on this header. Based off the specs this should show great results, however, there is not much other info available at this time.

Why may this be the best header available without facts to back it up. Another thread I read said the header was too short? I'm looking at the J's or Toda header as well.

Thanks.

"This may very well become the best header available, but no information available on this header."

Then why may this become the best header available?

You would need to ask the person who wrote that statement, but I suspect there might have been some "hype" about it in another thread somewhere.

I have the T1R header, and am VERY happy with it. My mid-range gains are incredible, but you definitely need to lower VTEC to capitalize on it. My VTEC is at 3900 RPMs. Here is my torque plot compared to my brother's 100% stock '06 AP2.

Any issues with fitment? Or direct bolt on?

I doubt there is a header that is easier to install than this one. You don't have to do any of the crap that some other headers require (removing engine mounts, raising the engine, etc.).

I forgot to mention one complaint. Since it is made with thin wall tubing, there is quite an increase in engine noise from this header. It doesn't change the exhaust sound as much as just increase noise from the engine compartment (valve noise and a sort of dull whistling at high RPMs).

I had some issues with my T1R header. The metal had warped when welding the primaries onto the plate that sits against the engine which resulted in an exhaust leak in 3 different places.

(forgive my lack of proper terms)

I had used a brand new OEM exhaust gasket and I could still smell exhaust slightly in the cabin. I also did the cigarette test and saw the smoke blowing away from the suspected leak areas. When I removed the header, it was visible on the gasket where the leak was coming from. I contacted Evasive and let them know, and they quickly offered me a replacement, or a T1R exhaust gasket. I told them I was willing to try the gasket first. When it came in the mail, the T1R gasket was much thicker and has sufficiently sealed the leak.

The exhaust itself is very nice looking, very light compared to OEM, and mated with my T1R 70em dual exhaust it dropped the tone and gave a more distinct growl at lower rpms.

I did not get a baseline dyno before installation, so I cannot vouch for any significant gains.

I think it was bungholio who had the fitment issue. The Header was too short or something and the header would not attach to the center section of the exhaust.

tis was i who had the issue, and its gernby who owns my old header/testpipe now.

through personal preference and experience with T1R/AJR, I will never support or recommend a T1R product to anyone.
