TAIL LIGHT TINT?
yea i like the ap2 lights too! not to rag on them but i thought the ap1 lights were a little bland looking and just looked like altezzas (my opinion) so i just wanted to shake it up a bit.
thankfully it was slow at work (boss was in mexico) so i was able to take my time and go thru all the procedures without taking shortcuts, painting it in the corner of the booth on the floor out of site, or paint it outside with bomb can. so it came out pretty decent, 3 coats or black and blue base and 4 coats of clear. turned out like glass. 3rd light does have a few nibs tho but very miniscule
here was my process:
remove lights and mask off areas you dont want to get scuffed like the black surround
i used plastic prep scuff compound with a grey scotchbright pad, scuffed the enitre light keeping the pad soaked with water. (just a medium roughness pad and water will be okay) then rinse compound off
make sure the areas getting paint are dull to ensure a good bite for the paint
remove tape
***REMOVE AS MUCH WATER FROM THE LIGHT AS POSSIBLE*** air blowers work best
if you have a form of wax and grease remover wipe the light down to remove dust and contaminants, (alcohol swabs will work)
remask areas that dont get paint
wipe light down with a tack cloth
if using bomb can you can start shooting, if using automotmotive base/clear you will need to use a plastic adhestion promotor other wise it will flake off
