Thumbs down Tein Hood Damper - HELP PLEASE!

Hi everyone,

Recently purchased a set of hood dampers and fitted them on my car but ran into some problems. The bolt that replaces the fender bolt sits too high and is hitting my hood. The hood when closed, arches like .5 cm higher in the mid. It has created a small dent in my stock aluminum hood.

Anyone else run into this problem? Please help!

Best,
J

is the bolt tilted and thus not threading correctly? You could take it off and try putting it in again. That happens sometimes when it comes to that kind of things.

I think there's a washer/spacer that you can remove in order to make it lower.

I just double checked and both sides are experiencing the same problem and appear to be threaded correctly.

I tried removing the washers on just ONE side and the problem still persisted. It appears to be the supplied nut that bolts to the fender. It is a little too high?

Do you know of any possible mistakes that could occur? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated!

J

I never had the problem you speak of, my TEIN dampers have been great.

Do you have them mounted backwards? Perhaps the housing that sits on the ball is larger on the end you have mounted there. Make sure you have it mounted with the damper closest to the fender this this:

Sorry, the only thing I can think of is not using any of the supplied washers/spacers and see if that helps. I'm running Tein Hood Dampers too and the only problem I have is a very, extremely light rubbing against my hood.

I used my stock bolts from the hood rather than the long bolt included.

Thanks for all the response everyone!

That is exactly what I thought initially too.. so I took off the lock pin to remove the dampers. After does this the nut with the ball on top that mounts to the fender was still hitting the hood

I have no idea what is going on...
