Default Titanium Blue Exhaust tip look

I saw a diy thread where someone torched the hell out of their exhaust tips and made it look like a titanium tip or burnt tip looking and it was really neat here's the link

well my question is has anyone else done this and can they give better directions than the original poster as I don't feel it's too detailed, and can I just go to a local home depot and buy a propane torch and gas and if anyone else have pics and their experiences like regretting it or whatnot please post, thanks!

ya i believe they just used a propane torch.

But the Question is will that stay on?
im not sure if its the same process as big co.'s do but what happeneds when it rains and those tips get wet? wouldnt the heat from the exhaust and the water that touches it alter that Blue flamed look?

That one guy said something about that in the post..

I dont think it would. The color is a reaction from the heat, as far as I know once it is there it stays that way. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can step in.

the only way it would come off is if you were to scratch the surface , say with sand paper for example

Yeah I tried pming the guy for more tips and advice but it seems that he only wants to do it and don't really care to help. I think I'm going to try it but I dont' know if I should buy an extra pair just incase something happens, after seeing the burnt tip I looked at mine today and was like damn i bet it would look better if burnt.

the exhaust tip is a pressed thin sheet metal, meaning you don't need much heat to get it to red hot state(which will transform to blue after it's cooled)

you can even do it in your stove(dont tell your wife i told you that) for such a thin sheet.

the oem titanium knob however might reqular a MAP gas torch

i dont really believe it, oem tip can turn blue in matter of minutes and you have a supposely hotter MAP and doesnt change color?
