Default TRUNK SPRINGS

Hey Guys,

Anyone have any step by step (for dummies) techniques to remove the trunk springs?
Thanks in advance!

There is a specific tool for them. I have some new stronger trunk springs since I put on my ap2 wing, but I couldnt get the old ones off without feeling like i'm going to break something or hurt myself. I still havent bought the tool either since I almost forgot about it since i'm hardly in my trunk. I need to get that done.

do you have the tool yet ?, don't attempt it without the right tool or you can seriously injure yourself. Even with the tool I had to be very careful to avoid them from snapping out. My parts guy at Honda let me borrow the tool a while back, once you get the tool it is pretty intuitive on how to use it. I could post a picture from the shop manual if you want, it might show it in a helpful manner.

I was able to remove the old one and install the CR one using just a screw driver. I wouldn't recommend it but it is possible.

I recently installed my oem wing and just used a pair of locking pliers, like these:

lock the end of the pliers onto the full-rod side of the spring, with the short-rod side in the jaws of the pliers to create the leverage you need. Be sure you got a good grip because once you pull the spring away from the mount it'll want to twist away from you... it's not very strong, but it could potentially hurt ya if not expecting it. Remember which way it twists so you can reverse it when you install the new ones. Very simple job.

That's how i felt when i pulled on the springs the first time. I hate how my Cf trunk is lifted because of the springs.

I dont want to purchase one for a one time removal. Hopefully i can find someone who has one that can help me remove locally.
Pics would be appreciated.

Thanks!
