I took mine off to make my cf trunk fit better, I dont recall using any special tool lol or anything at all, maybe i used a screw driver. I bought my cf trunk real cheap because the previous owner said it fit like crap, I took the springs out and it fit perfect. Later he saw it at a meet and was like omg how did u get it to fit so well, lol. I told him

Channel lock pliers or vise grips work fine and you have more control and leverage than a screwdriver.

I used a big screw driver, i should have just bought the tool, and rented it out afterwards..
