Default Trunk vs Spoiler? warping?

I would like to get a spoiler for my s2000, and i like the APR GTC 200 line of spoilers, i know the whole talk about the other brands all the mods are running, thats cool but not my thing. My question is... i know the spoilers warp your trunk, even the "s2000 specific fit". anyone got a diy or mod on how to keep it from happening? i dont want to buy a new carbon fiber trunk either, id rather go buy a SOS SC before i spent 4k on a friggin trunk lid!

So if anyone has a fix or what not let me know!

The CR trunk is reinforced for the sole purpose of housing a Spoiler. It may be a tad pricey though but if you wish to go oem thats your choice. Or you can just add some sheet metal to yours in the same pattern as the CR

Some of the cheaper CF trunks (Seibon, etc.) are pretty cheap too, although I don't know if they'd be any stronger than the stock one.

I think ASM makes trunk reinforcement plates.

the siebon trunk suck ass! it dont fit like it should at all. and as far as the apr gt200 wing....it works.....however as far as installing re-enforcement plates, the hardware is too short. and the wing starts to loose its gel coating after about a year. it will need to be redone. for the price, i would get something else like some super sticky tires. lastly if you do go with the wing, spoiler, air foil......DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALL!!! you will put the holes in the wrong place if you do. pm me if you want to know how i did it the second time PERFECT after learning the hard way. hope this helps.this is my car for you what it looks like on the car.

The j's racing one doesnt help much with an APR spoiler that mounts on stock spoiler mounts tho... but as for ideas on reinforcing... thought bout buying a new trunk lid and maybe welding something under it? or on top of it? i plan on painting the wing anyway, i dont like the carbon fiber look, simply because people are jackasses and always judge it as rice

Spoke to a guy at APR, great chat, he said that he recommends keeping the OEM trunk, and DO NOT get a carbon fiber, dry or wet... because they dont flex aswell, and will get stress cracks and eventualy completely snap off... he said what most people did was just unbolt the vertical bars and remove spoiler when not tracking it, and that it takes a while for it to warp, but all spoilers do it after a while

and what is the solution for when the OEM trunk warps? just keep it that way? and he's saying that the trunk will get stress cracks and snap off? if you're getting a CF trunk, then you can trunk swap easier (but have to get a 3rd brake light, rubber cushions, trunk latch, etc) than taking off and putting on the wing for track use. I've heard the dry carbon options for trunks will sustain the load of gt wings, even for prolonged use.

just going buy what the guy who works for APR said... one would think he knows.... he said as long as you dont over tighten the bracket that mounts to the trunk, and you dont race around with it all day, it would last a good while before warping, he said all spoilers do it, just a matter of time and amount of use... he recommended taking it off when not doing something that would require it, like daily driving... just unbolt the spoiler, but leave the trunk mounts in place... should last a while
