Default underhood insulation better on or off?

With the underhood insulation removed is there any benifit with the engine being louder sounding different? I think the cr's come without them. Has anyone done this and can report on it?

many people remove hood insulation
it should be beneficial in terms of weight reduction and cooling engine bay

Pull it out. I believe CR's didn't come with it from the factory. Possible also other 08+ S2000's as well. I can't remember.

Its there to protect the paint on the hood (hot ass engine bay) and also contain warmth in the engine bay for colder climates. I took mine off too

Heat won't hurt the paint. My turbo sits 2" under the hood. I removed mine and no problems with the paint at all.

My '07 didn't come with it. Not sure if it originally had it and the previous owner removed it, or if it never had it to begin with.

I went commando as part of a weight reduction mod. No ill effects on paint. Engine sounds make my nipples hard.

Probably was removed, after reading this thread i will probably do the same if nobody has any paint damage and little more engine sound is always welcome
