Default Vented hood concerns

I have been back and forth reading on the forums about vented hoods and when it is raining. Some say its fine they had water pouring on it and nothing happened. Others say that it's best to go with the oem hood cause they had bad experiences with the vented ones here is how mine looks, I put an aluminum cover for the mean time. I thought about getting a bypass valve or a hydro shield. Or maybe a garage bag? Any suggestions?

I know it looks really stupid but it's suppose be pouring in a few hours and I just wanna be safe

And it sits literally right under the biggest vent on the bottom

Does the intake sit under your biggest vent? And have you ever drove it before when it was raining really hard?

instead of screwing the screen under your hood, you should slide it between the hood and secure it with some screening spline. You can get the screening spline at home depot or another hardware store next to the insect screens. That way in the winter, you can slide in an extra piece of aluminum to keep out the rain.

You can see from my pictures that I normally use an aluminum screen on top and a insect screen on the bottoom. I do that because I makes it less see-thru. However, you can replace the insect screen with a piece of aluminum for winter purposes if you're concern. You can see from the pictures below that there is no gap betweeen the edges to allow water around the edges if you use a piece of solid material.

The biggest vent is just over the intake box, smallest vent right over the battery and fuse box. Driven daily rain and shine... still no issues. Only thing really ever had to be done was clean the bay more often, and the factory box lid got a bit faded where the opening is. Other then that no issues.

Oh and the opening to the box is just at the lowest portion of the big vent cut. Small water drops can get in, but a couple drops is nothing to worry about.

If you have a K&N then Def don't drive it in the rain.
