Default VIS hood Questions

Hey my father bought me an 08 rio yellow S2000 about 4 months ago while I was returning from training. I am looking at getting the Techno R Style Carbon Fiber Hood VIS. Can any one advise a place to purchase one and also do I really need hood pins and does it come with a front latch? i know this may seem like stupid questions but I just do not know and thought some Fellow S2000 owners might know.

Wow, very lucky that your dad bought you an 08! First, no you do not need hood pins. The OEM hood is very light and switching to a carbon fiber hood is just for cosmetics, not weight reduction. The VIS has the latch just like the stock hood. And it really doesnt matter to much where you order from. Just find the best price you can find and order.

Thank you. Yea I am very lucky where driving home and dad has talked about how much he has missed our old one (05 BB S2K) and spotted this one dealer had it for a year and a half and we made them a serious cash offer and dad traded my car in and gave this to me. From what I have gathered this was the last New Yellow S2K sold on the east coast as my dealer had been looking for some time for me. once again thanks for the helpful info

anywho, back on topic:

many people on the board run fiberglass/cf hoods without hood pins, and they seem to be fine

but, also consider that while it does have a metal latch, the latch is connected to fiberglass with screws. in that configuration, the fiberglass can be brittle.

better safe than sorry, but cosmetics is cosmetics
