Default VIS Mugen Replica

Okay,

Close to the whereabouts of where I live. I have the chance to locally secure a VIS mugen top for 1k. I am on the fence about if I should go through with it. I am without a HT or even a soft top currently. I know spyder has good deals as a sponsor, but wouldn't be able to get a FRP top from him until next month.

The VIS is 1000 bucks

Unpainted
Comes with window and brackets
Has the old style seals though which I hear is not so good.

If I bought it for 1000 that is all I really have. I would not be able to buy new seals right away.

Good deal or no? Should I go through with it.

you can rock the hardtop with old seal and buy new seal later on. For $1000 its a steal.

You should get it but talk them down on the price, you can pay $275 more and have a brand new spyder one shipped to you with upgraded seals. I just sold my VIS hardtop professionally painted Berlina Black with 5 month old paint ($400) and the upgrades spyders seals on it and sold it for $900. It just needs a new rear window and you can get a nice tinted one with the seal from Spyder for $100 shipped. So I sold my top for pretty much $1000 painted with upgraded seals and everything. If he will take $800 do it.

Just make sure you put all the seals on and test fit the VIS before you paint it. If there is any thing wrong with the fitment send it back. I painted mine and then put the seals on and it fit like crap so i had to buy some different seals and rig it to fit PIA.

Yeah I know, i'm losing around $1100 on this deal and the paint is only 5 months old. I just no longer want to use it since I miss going top down and my soft top is still in great shape so yeah. The buyer is getting hell of a deal since it fits great too.
